Glasgow City Council

With a £2bn annual turnover Glasgow City Council is the largest local authority in Scotland and one of the top 5 in the UK. It is recognised as a leader in its field having completed, in recent years, the largest schools Public Private Partnership and the biggest housing stock transfer.

In 2003 the Council embarked upon an ambitious programme to transform its back office HR and Finance functions through the introduction of a Shared Service centre for its ten operational divisions, facilitated by the implementation of SAP.

Ian Tully, Deputy Finance Director of Glasgow City Council, explains;

"Glasgow's vision and early design work on the concept of Shared Services was brought to reality with the support of Xayce.

Xayce has provided much more than consultancy and the Xayce team came into its own by adding real value during the intense implementation phase.

In working in partnership with the Council, Xayce has shown flexibility in understanding the Council's culture and have shown depth of knowledge not only in shared services, but also in process improvement and SAP optimisation. These qualities have complemented the skills of the Glasgow team, and have been key factors in ensuring a smooth initial go-live of our shared service centre in less than nine months from inception."
