Basel II - Implementation of Data Warehouse solution to act as a master store of risk information for multiple core banking systems
Barclays Wealth needed to comply with Basel II regulations in time for Jan 2008 deadline. In addition, the bank was looking to reduce the amount of regulatory capital it is required to hold.
The solution needed to be auditable and reconciles with the Bank's general ledger accounting systems, and be rigid, repeatable, future proofed for additional requirements.
Tangible Benefits Delivered:
- Consolidated datastore containing risk information from disparate systems - improved management information and support for decision-making beyond Basel II
- Proof of banking model for group-wide implementation
- Completion in time for mandatory FSA submissions
Xayce has led work streams within Barclays Wealth in support of a major corporate-wide programme to achieve compliance with Basel II regulations. The work focused on Pillar I compliance, but also included aspects of Pillar II compliance - particularly around economic capital where Xayce SOX experience proved readily transferable. An important element of the solution was a consolidated datastore containing risk information from disparate systems - which will also provide improved management information and support for decision-making beyond Basel II.
Xayce contributed to the design and build phase of core solutions. We managed the Business workstream including source system data analysis, finance reconciliation, and business support. Additionally, Xayce provided project management for both the source system data analysis phase and the business / system testing phase. Xayce also performed the analysis, design and implementation of the Economic Capital element of the solution and project managed and designed the Interest Rate Risk on the Banking Book (IRRBB) component.
